Baby Dedication
3Children are a gift from the Lord;
they are a reward from him.
4 Children born to a young man
are like arrows in a warrior’s hands.
5 How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them!
Baby Dedication is a ceremony where families make a public commitment to the Lord to raise their child according to God’s Word. By making this public declaration, they are committed to do everything in their power to raise their child in a loving, caring Christian environment, praying that their child will make his or her personal decision to follow Jesus Christ as early as possible. The Bible promises that if we train up a child in the way he should go, when he is old he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6). We also pray a prayer of blessing over each child – that they would fulfill God’s plans and purposes for their life. For this reason, Baby Dedications are really Parental Dedications!
